GENERAL DESCRIPTION

We want to take you to discover one of the most authentic cultures of the ancestral Andes. In this program we will travel and explore through the western side of Bolivia in a trip that combines tourism, culture, and hiking. Bolivia is known as an Andean country in South America, with a unique and alive culture, amazing landscapes, and breathtaking mountains.

žThe door to this trip will be La Paz, one of the most important cities and the capital of the country. La Paz is an amazing fusion between a modern city and the magic of aymara culture traditions. Tiwanaku awaits to show us Bolivia´s most important cultural legacy. On the Isla del Sol, an island in the middle of the Titicaca Lake, that tells the stories of the Incas is possible to cross it hiking. The Cordillera Real reveals itself to climb and hike and one last and must stop will take us to the natural wonder of the salt flats in the South, “el Salar de Uyuni”. Bolivia has develop good infrastructure for tourism so we will be able to enjoy the place in a comfy way…

Day 1: We will pick you up at El Alto International Airport (4060 meters). Transfer to La Paz (3600 meters) in private bus. Check-in in a three stars hotel. Time to rest and acclimatize. Night in a three stars hotel in La Paz.

Day 2: In the morning we will do a guided city tour with local guide. In the afternoon we will visit the city by the cable car public transportation system.

Day 3: Transfer to Tiwanaku (3885 meters). Check-in at the accommodation. Walk to visit the Tiwanaku Archaeological Complex with a local guide.

Day 4: Short transfer to Collocollo Village. Full day hiking in Kimsa Chata mountain (4600 meters). Transfer to Copacabana (3840 meters) by the Titikaka Lake (3800 meters). Night in Copacabana.

Day 5: Navigation to Isla del Sol (3850 meters). Hike along the island (From Callapampa to Yumani). Check-in at Isla del Sol accommodation.

Day 6: In the morning we will visit Pilcocaina Temple (the temple of the Sun, of the Inca culture) in the South of the island. Time to visit the Yumani Village. Navigation back to Copacabana. Hike up to cerro Calvario viewpoint (3975 meters). Night in Copacabana.

Day 7: Transfer to La Rinconada (Condoriri Base Camp). Hike to Chiar Khota lagoon. Camp by the lagoon (4660 meters). Night in Base Camp (Tent or hut).

Day 8: Acclimatization hike up to Condoriri glacier (4800 meters). Night in Base Camp (Tent or hut).

Day 9: In the morning hike up to Pico Austria to attempt the summit (5350 meters). Hike down to the parking spot. Transfer to Huayna Potosí base camp (4790 meters). Night in a mountain hostel.

Day 10: Hike up to Huayna Potosí high camp (5130 meters). Hike down to base camp. Night in a mountain hostel.

Day 11: Transfer to Chacaltaya (5200 meters). Hike up to the summit of Chacaltaya peak (5400 mts). Transfer to La Paz. Night in a three stars hotel in La Paz.

Day 12: Transfer to the airport. Flight to Uyuni (3660 meters). Transfer to the Salt flats. Visit the Salt flats in 4×4 wagons. Night at a salt hotel.

Day 13: Transfer to Tunupa Look out. Hike on the Tunupa volcano (5400). Transfer to Uyuni airport. Flight to La Paz. Transfer to the hotel.  Night in a three stars hotel in La Paz.

Day 14: Free day until transfer to La Paz airport. Flight back.
