GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Domuyo is the highest peak in Patagonia. With its 4700 meters, it´s placed in Northern Patagonia, in the province of Neuquen, Argentina. Our trip begins in Neuquen City, the road to the base of the mountain goes through small farmer villages and beautiful volcanic landscapes. The area is pretty wild, a place far into the Andes of Patagonia and not very visited by tourists.

This adventure is a great option as an introduction to a mountain expedition: we will place different camps, there will be an acclimatization process to the altitude and we will use mountain logistic such as horses to carry our luggage to the base camp.

Day 1: We will pick you up at Neuquen airport and drive for 400 km (around 5 hours) to Chos Malal, the biggest town in the north of Neuquen province. After lunch we will continue 100 km going along the route 39. Around two hours later we will arrive to Varvarco Village where we will spend the night at a cabin.

Day 2: We will drive for around one hour to the end of the road. We will meet the horse driver to give him the expedition duffels and then we will start hiking for around 4 hours to first camp at 3000 mts. Night at Camp 1.

Day 3: We will hike to camp 2 (3800 mts), for acclimatization and to carry some equipment. It will take us around 5 hours. Back in Camp 1 we will enjoy the afternoon relaxing.

Day 4: After take down the tents and pack our backpacks, we will be ready to move the camp to Camp 2. Night at Camp 2.

Day 5: Summit attempt! We will wake up at 5 am for breakfast. Around 6:30 we will start climbing to reach the summit (4700 mts). It´s the hardest and longest day in our expedition. We will get back and sleep in camp 2.

Day 6: We will take down the tents and go back to Camp 1. We will organize the duffels for the horses and keep hiking to the parking spot. We will drive back to Varvarco village. Celebration dinner! Night at the Cabin.
